This is a statue we are calling Athena. This sculpture was made as a commission from a friend. She wanted a sculpture of herself using an Italian sculpture as the model for the theme and position. The sculpture has exactly the face of our friend. However the rest of the body is different from hers. The proportions and shapes follow her preferences.
The sculpture is about 75 inches tall and the proportions follow the current canon in art of a total height equal to the length of eight heads, with the legs being slightly longer than the length called for by the canon.
The sculpture is made of a metal armature plus a variety of other materials, including cement, and painted to make it look like bronze.
