My name is Enrique Domenge. Originally from Mexico, I spent part of my career with the World Bank Goup. I started sculpting after a trip to Africa with my work. Stopping in Paris for a day, I was interested in buying a marionette but I felt it was too expensive. So I decided I would make it myself upon my return to Washington. I bought some woodworking tools and was able the make the marionette with little difficulty. This was my first sculpture. After that I took a variety of sculpting courses mainly at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. Also, I was fortunate to be born into a family with a strong artistic connection. My sister Yvonne Domenge was a world renowned sculptor with many of her sculptures found around the world. She was also my mentor and teacher in this art form. My aunt Kitsia Hoffman and my uncle Herbert Hoffman were also famous Mexican sculptors. My father was an excellent musician who played the piano and most wind instruments. There are several excellent musicians and photographers among my siblings and cousins. My sculpture work is in various media: bronze, steel, cement and mixed media.
