Venus de Milo
This statue is based on the ancient Greek sculpture now known as the Venus de Milo, which is currently on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris. It is attributed to Alexandros of Antioch in the third century BC and was made on the island of Milos. My sculpture has many of the elements of the original, including its larger than human size (2.02 meters tall), overall position, etc. My sculpture has arms, which the original lost. No one knows how the arms were positioned. I based the design of the arms on my sculpture on an ancient Greek drawing on a vase showing a woman holding a spindle. My sculpture also has some personal changes from the original. For example, it measures eight heads high instead of the 7.5 heads for the original.
